Female Hygiene Project, Chongwe

Mukamambo Girls Secondary School started as a dream to educate the girls in Chongwe community. From broken down and abandoned buildings behind Chalimbana University, Chieftainess Mukamambo brought her vision to life. The school today accommodates over 830 girls, of which 95% are boarders and boasts of an impressive pass rate. The school has stood the test of time, and not even Covid will stand in the way of this great vision. On Thursday, October 13, 2022, the AB Bank Team accompanied by Dr. Mwansa Chimfwembe and Master Chimbala visited the girls at Mukamambo School. A talk on Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs), Personal and Menstrual Hygiene was delivered by Dr. Chimfwembe, while Master Chimbala reemphasized the need for the girls to focus on their personal and career growth. In addition to this, the AB Bank team spoke on Financial Literacy, its importance for the girl child and how they could start working towards being who they want to be, right now. At AB Bank, we believe improving female hygiene education will impact many girls and make their lives safer and healthier. This belief was the driver in identifying the knowledge gap and a donation for the project.
